Anyone ever seen a box top with an inlaid slice of agate? Probably be a real pain to clean out the hollow for the inlay because of the uneven edges and I’m not sure I can find a slice thin enough – most I have seen are 1/4 or slightly thicker. Turquoise would look really nice in a walnut top, I think. Again, where to find the slice.

Just some of my thoughts tonight as I sit here unable to sleep due to pain from back & knee.

The best place I have found for slices of agate is a rock shop. There is one here Illinois and he has some amazing pieces of stone in his shop. He also deals in fossils. Here is the link www.davesdowntoearthrockshop.com

As far as cuttting the recess, don’t worry about a perfect fit. Just make it a bit oversize, and set your inlay in fiberglass resin.
