Anyone have an apron plane they would like to part with? Maybe a Veritas or LN 102? I’m leaning towards an apron plane because I’m building a strip kayak and will be hand beveling the strips so the plane needs to be comfortable to hold unsupported in one hand for a while.

Any other suggestions would help. Thanks

Kevin

Bump. I’m open to any block plane I guess. Given some recent events, cheaper is better.

I have teh brass Lie Nielsen 102… but keeping until I croak!

Don’t know that the brass matters, but super comfortable, I use it for shaving moulding and trim to get gap free fits in crown Moulding on those “not so square” walls.

Once you use one, you’ll never look back…
Question though – don’t the strips have routed edges? A bead on one edge and a half round cove on the other so it kind of works like tongue and groove?

You can do bead and cove or a rolling bevel. I would rather hand bevel each strip. Routers are fine, but I don’t feel like sitting in front of a screaming dusty router for a few hours to make them.

Have your say...
