I’ve lurked Lumberjocks for quite a while and have found the tool reviews and comments to be more than helpful. I purchased a Steel City planer and long bed 6” jointer both of which are delightful machines. However, I need a part for the jointer and have had ZERO response from SC Customer support.

Am I missing something? Early reviews raved about SC customer support.

So far I’ve had 1 broken promise to send the part and an e-mail and 2 voice mails spread over the past month completely ignored.

Is Steel City still in business??

Get the number for the head of the company and go striaght to him, tell of treatment you received. Please let us know what happens.

Yes they are in business, but they are VERY behind in pretty much everything. Call their tech support number, you’ll most likely have to leave a message, but they have always gotten back to me. It might take a day or two. If you can’t get a response, have the dealer you bought the tools from call them. Good Luck!

Unemployment reaching 10% ,12,000 woodworkers at LJ’s alone and they are running behind????

I wonder if they would run a bit faster had you not paid them that last 10% until the warnanty runs out?

Nobody is too busy to fix a broken machine they sold.

At least they wont be for long….

Somebody (very friendly) did in fact call me back this afternoon – checked inventory on the parts and promised me they would process the order.

Hopefully, (and assuming the part arrives in due course) it will have restored some faith in steel City.

I have ZERO complaints about the two machines.

Thanks for your replies & suggestions

A while back, I was looking to buy the 17” Steel City Drill Press from the Tulsa Woodworks store, while it was on sale in the national flyer. I was told by a salesperson in the Tulsa store, that owner of that store did not deal with Steel City.

That remark and the tone it was delivered in, led me to think there was a story hiding in there somewhere. Usually, that indicates a support issue of some sort.

Have your say...
