Hi all
I just saw a Jet 12” Planer at a pawn shop for 100.00
I this a good deal?
From what i have seen Jet is a top of the line product

sound like an older (blue?) planer, as they don’t have any 12” planer except for the 2K combo machine on the market these days. IIRC it didn’t compare too favorably against other 12” planers. but at $100 … I’d take those odds.

If it is in fact an older JET, then at that price it’s a great deal !

I don’t think you can even buy Jet clamps for $100. (Joking…sort of) I would say it was a good deal!

even if it’s rough around the edges it’s probably a steel give that most used 12” jointer start around $1200.
I would make sure all the parts are there,that the bed is flat, and that the head has not been striped or damaged(the part that holds the blades). and see if it runs. even if it’s doesn’t run it may still be a bargain.
One other thing to look for is if it is 3phase or single phase. I would not consider Jet top of the line but it’s better than most of the inexpensive jointers.
