I have the opportunity to buy a craftsman saw with a Powermatic III fence. The asking price is $200 obo. I would buy it only for the fence to put on my dads craftsman 113 series saw. The saw has the XR 2424 pants on it now. Would the Powermatic fence be a worthwhile upgrade?

Probably… the Powermatic III fence is essentially a Vega fence. You should be able to part out the motor, wings, switch, miter, blade guard, leg stand, hand wheels, and other things off the donor saw. Or you can put the XR2424 fence on the donor saw, clean it up a little, and resell it. That fence could end up to be a fairly inexpensive upgrade if you play your cards right.
