I found me a factory reconditioned Bostitch brad on Amazon.com for $25.10, I also finish mom’s mantel shelf.

Charles, you have got yourself a nice nailer. I have the same model and have used it for years without any problem. The magnetic strip did come loose but a little super glue put it back in place.

Good deal! I like the mantle too. It has a nice design the way you attached the corbels to the stretcher gives it a lot of class as well as a sturdy mounting surface. As Rj said, let your family know what they mean to you. Keep up the good work.

Charles…I don’t like working with oak but you did such a nice job on the shelf that I am inspired to try an oak project. Love the color.

CJ,

Nice work on the shelf and great nailer on top of that…. Keep in mind that the white oak is some really tough stuff. I built a desk for my son from the stuff; at the time I didn’t own a power planer and ended up doing the final dimensioning all by hand. That wore me out!
