Topic tags/keywords: jig purpleheart router joining

Hey folks, I got the Rockler Box joint Jig a few weeks back not wanting to go all in on a dovetail jig. I’ve changed my mind. (24” akeda here I come) The Box joint jig does just what it is supposed to do. The problem I realize now is that it just does not fit my applications for most of the projects I am building. So I got $80.00 worth of jig here that I have a attitude against (I’m sure you know what I mean). This jig would be great for small boxes if you have been thinking of buying one for that purpose I’m sure you will be pleased. After joining the Church of degoose, I have a craving for some Purple Heart I can’t bring my self to buy any off the internet so I would really like to trade this jig for some. Will probably use PH for (of coarse) cutting boards, maybe some accent pieces. The PH sould be reasonably clear. Maybe like $50 worth plus shipping to zip 18437 which should give you some wiggle room. I really don’t need any other kind of wood so…. This is about all I would want to trade for. I would entertain any other ideas though. If a LJ doesn’t step forward I’ll probably just put it on ebay. I can’t send it back to Rockler (I don’t think) because I burned the box.

Thanks Larry, I know I’ve sent Curly Maple to your Island. I think one little package (15 lb.) is like $70. Crazy! I should just live next to you. We would by stock in XXXX.

I have been eyeballing that jig since they released it…I might be interested in buying it from you. Did you buy the spiral router bits they recommend? We don’t live too far apart so the shipping shouldn’t be bad…I know you said you burned the box, but do you have the instructions still? PM me and we will talk turkey!

Sorry….I cant buy the jig. I just was reading the manual for it on line, and the front edge of the miter slot on my router table is 9” to the center of the bit…too far the instructions state you have to be between 4 1/2”-6 1/4”...Sorry! I was really psyched about picking that up…

Scottie , contact Joe M. at Downes and Reader here in Massachusetts.
Ask him about their “reclaimed exotic hardwoods”....I purchased some PH from Joe and he even sent me pictures of what I would be getting before I made the purchase : )
FREE SHIPPING over $15.00 on this product.
All of my boards came through in excellent shape and I was surprised at the nice figure that was in them that wasn’t captured in the pics.
4”wide x 4’ long…almost a full inch thick !
Joe M. treated me very well and I will buy from him again just like I will from you : )
Peace and happy shopping , Scottie…..Len

I have the PC Omnijig that I use when I am not up for cutting joints on my table saw or settiing up a jig on my router table. I have the 24” one so it will do pretty much all the projects that I would throw at it….I got this one used….they show up here once in a while on craigslist for a fairly decent price. Whats nice about it is it gives you all the settings (printed on the jig), the depth for your router, the bit and the templates…I am able to use it with my Hitachi, my Dewalt and my Milwaukee routers (I’m sure others would work also). Plus you get the option of setting up joints with various distances…It is a really nice setup.

Sorry Dude , just trying to help you out and anyone else that needs some nice Purpleheart.Sorry I didn’t consider them as being your competition as you don’t stock Purpleheart and all of their Maple is in the Rough so you can’t see the Fine Quality like that served up at Poroskywood with its tearout free surfaces that are flat and square and where the Moisture Content is closely monitored to prevent warping and twisting after the product has been machined. By the way , I plug your business every chance I get too and praise the nice wood that I’ve purchased from you so far.
I actually have a project that I will be posting this weekend that I used some of the Tiger Maple from YOUR store to complete and YOU will be getting credited as the supplier of such.
”geeze”...If I was in need of a BoxJoint Jig , then I would have gladly traded you for some of the nice PH that I have in stock , but instead I was just trying to help you out with a good source at a great price seeing as you said you were going to use it for cutting boards and such…”geeze”When you said that you couldn’t bring yourself to buying from the internet , I guess I thought that you were afraid of buying something sight unseen. My bad : (
Have a great Labor Day weekend , Scott !
Peace….Len

I know you meant well Dusty. Thanks for trying to help me out. I hadn’t checked this post for a while it made me laugh and shake my head. I’m just bustin your nuts. The truth is I was seriously considering Downs and Reader for some PH they have a huge selection of lumber like 50 different woods, I have two, I’m really not any competition to them at all. Now I’m pluggin Downes and Reader! Geeze… I think I have spoken with a Jack maybe Jack Reader, the times I have called up there to sell them Hardwood lumber from our sawmill. They are nice folks. Hope I didn’t make you feel bad. I was really just trying to bust your nuts. Have a Great weekend yourself!

My heart was in the right place even though my head was up my @$$ , Bro…I was trying to help you out for a change as you have done for me , but I guess I should have reread your post before I typed anything here .
Sorry I didn’t comprehend your statement correctly the first time : (
Do you think that this might be the reason that some people say that ”I’m as sharp as a bowling ball” ?
As far as busting my nuts goes , my ex-wife pretty much steam rolled them years ago !
