Topic tags/keywords: tip

A while back I saw an ad in a table saw magazine offering to pay for feedback on table saw blade guards. Apparently I passed the pre-screening questions because a guy called today and at the end of the 25-minute survey he took down my name and address to mail a $50 check (I could have sworn the ad said it was supposed to be a $75 check, but either way it’s a lot more than I make in 25 mins at my day job).

If you want to give it a shot, fill out the pre-screening survey at http://tablesawsurvey.com

They surveyed me end of last week. Note that I believe they want the saw to be new since the safety regs for blade guard (and/or riving knife) changed. I think it was 2009.

Awesome thanks, apparently I qualified they’re going to call me at some point, man only need about 26 more surveys and the saw paid for itself.

I think they were trying to call me for a couple weeks. I had forgotten about it and was ignoring calls from unknown numbers assuming they were telemarketers.

I really wish there were more surveys like this!

hotbyte, that’s the same area code and prefix that I finally answered, too; thanks for posting for anyone else who has a habit of ignoring unknown numbers.

I’m not eligible – not sure if it’s because they don’t want Canadians (from my ip address) or because I have the wrong type of guard (I bought the saw in 2013 so that can’t be the issue).

My saw’s too old, or maybe it’s me!

so… I have a 1960s powermatic 72, but they said I was eligible. Might be because I bought it with a retrofitted gaurd, or maybe because the age question kept giving me an error. It finally went through, but after how many times I had to retry the entry, I’m not sure it submitted correctly.

I clicked the link and nothing happened. Guess I’m not eligible.

Fred, now that you mention it, I think I had to temporarily disable my popup blocker and refresh the page in order for the “Start Survey” button to work. However, there’s also a phone number at the bottom of the page that you can call to report problems with the survey.

I filled out the form about a month ago. I talked with someone a week later. I have the $50 check sitting on my desk.

Just got my call this morning.
Lots of questions about what saw operations would you remove the guard for.

I never even took the standard guard that came with my PM2000 out of the box, and I’m willing to admit it for $50. Would I be able to do the survey?
