I know this is an old post, but I’m just wondering if you got your 2116 band saw up and running—and if so, how you like it (or hate it).

I have a lead on one of these, and since resawing is really what I’d do with it, this seems like my cup of tea.

I have a Hitachi. They’re probably similar.
It works well for resaw cuts. That’s it.
The guides aren’t designed for anything
but wide blades.

I needed to get a new blade which cost me more than the bandsaw. The saw is running and works well. Some what underpowered for hardwoods and deep cut. Otherwise works well.

Sawblade, do you remember if it was hard to find the blade? Or is it a generic kind of thing, meaning they’re made in hundreds of sizes and you just pick the one you want from third-party manufacturers? Because if it’s an OEM item, it’s highly unlikely that Makita even manufactures that blade any more.

Got I the blade from skarpaz.com. They won’t sell to you directly but through a distributor.

You might try bandsawbladesdirect.com. I buy blades from them. They seem pretty good.
