I am looking for an adaptor with a square taper shank chuck on one end
and a standard shaft on the other that would allow me to use my large
collection of square taper shank wood augers with a power drill.

OR, any suggestions that would allow me to chuck the bits into a standard chuck
on a drill press or hand drill?

Thank you,
J. Ross

You have two choices. You can either cut the tapered portion of each auger bit off or you can cut the chuck off a bit and brace and chuck the B/B chuck in the electric drill. I would go with the former since it looks like you don’t want to drill by hand anymore. I know of no adapter that is available. You might just check with Lee Valley/Veritas. If such an adapter is available, they would have it. Just looked at the LV/V site and they don’t have an adapter. Cutting off the chuck from a bit brace, won’t work either, so the first suggestion is my best solution.

Have your say...
