I’m posting this under power tools because a chainsaw is a wood power tool, right?

I’ll say it again: WHAT IS UP WITH GAS CAN’S?

Bought one the other day first time in several years.

Who, in all their brilliance, came up with the idea of pushing the spout in to get gas out?

Every tried filling a weedeater that way?

I ended up pulling the spout back with one hand (getting gas all over it in the process).

So you clever guys out there is there a way to disable the stupid thing?

I’m suspecting EPA or a bunch of lawyers are behind it.

I have no idea. The stupid one I have has a switch you have to hold open to allow gas to flow out, meaning you have to hold the whole 6 gallon can with one hand.

I have a couple of the No-Spill cans made in USA and has a button you push. It is the best I have used.

That sounds a lot different than my gas cans. i have 12 cans that are each 5 gallons that have regular spouts with a push on cap. they are about 9 yeard old an work easily for me.

From what I recall there are 3 types of effect with drugs: main effect, side effect, and synergistic effect. The main effect of a sleeping pill is to help you sleep, the side effect is drowsyness the next day after sleeping, synergistic is from combining with other drugs.

If that was meant to be funny, please disregard.

Actually, I think the current mess is due to CARB regulations…somehow the manufacturers have decided we all need to follow them. But that easy pour spout set (jmartel linked it)will solve your problem, they work very well. Before such things ere available, I used tire valves as a vent (AKA redneck fuel can vent) and take the spring loaded part off the OEM spout. If you have a Menard’s nearby they stock those spout kits.

I opted for one of these. Has a spring loaded cap that opens when you pull the handle back, and you can control the flow by only opening the cap a bit.

Wow, I had no idea those type of spouts were even made .
Up here in Canada we still have the good old Jerrycans with corrugated spouts and capped vents in the back, the funny thing is, they are made in USA !
I can’t figure out why we don’t have those complex nuzzles here .
If any of you need those old fashion cans,I can ship them to you for a nominal fee, lol..
