Wow. 10/4 curly and 7/4 curly ash. I feel like a Quizno’s commercial. m-m-m-m-m. Makes my mouth water just thinking about it. Specially if it is highly curled. Saw some amazing curly walnut at a turners’ meeting last night. Really special platter.

I’ll be in touch off list about some of the maple for sure. Got some ideas for its use for Christmas…

Hi Dean,
The 10/4 looks really good. Rarely get nice thick heavily figured pieces like these 4 he has now. Too many things can go wrong when cutting these thick billets, so he doesn’t get too many from the mill. This 10/4 order was at the mill for over a year before a likely candidate log was found that would yield these 10/4 boards. I think he ended up with 8 footers x 8-10 inches wide. He said they were highly curled all the way through. BTW, that is one of the things that can go wrong, the curl runs out half way through the billet! Excellent stuff for gunstocks. He also just got in a 12/4 piece of spalted/semi spalted curly maple from the mill.

Sounds like a good deal for those in the midwest. I hope we see some of those maple projects soon.
