Every once in awhile someone posts a photo of something as a puzzle where the rest of us get to guess what it is. I was rooting around on my workbench and came across this. Can anyone guess what it is?

Can you send the SKB file so I can orbit. :)

It scribes a curve on an overhang, like a curved deck. I built one of these but it didn’t look as nice.

Robert, did you try to orbit the picture? ;)

This is one of the few things I have for which there’s no SKP file. Sorry.

Tony, you’ve got it essentially. I used it when I was building my first sailboat to locate a line for installing screws. the lower arm is adjustable so the pencil draws a line offset from the edge of whatever is on the underside. It is very handy for a lot of things. And thanks for the compliment.

And David got it as well.

Looks like something that adds an “extra hand”. The “top” rests on the bench, pinned by a bench dog. The sliding part can be adjusted to support an long piece of stock

Never Mind

Lew, I never thought of that. I wonder if it has multiple uses?

it’s a stand for woodworking recipes – and it’s adjustable!

Looks like it is to follow something and scribe the line above and is adjustable for the set back.
