Hey guys & gals,

I almost exclusively do Segmented Turning and need some Spalted material for my projects, particularly interested in the lighter colored woods with Black line spalt.

Please either reply to this thread or message me and I can give you my email address.

Thanks very much !!

I’ve got a bunch o’ spalted maple (silver maple, I believe). I’m in Central Indiana.

This is the best picture I have of it: http://lumberjocks.com/projects/18891

Hi Mark,

I could not see any picture showing Spalted material, if you do have some that would be for sale I’d love to see it.

Thanks,
Tim Boger

I’m surrounded by woods, and have an almost endless supply of spalted oak (both red and white). Unfortunately, my chainsaw died so I have no way to harvest it at the moment, and my current supply is almost exhausted, with just these two pieces left:

I’m getting ready to start tuning that one :)

Do you have any pictures of the segmented work you have been doing… would love to see any and maybe get some ideas that I could try out (I’ve never done any segmented work).

Cheers,
Brad

Hi Brad,

Thanks for the reply, I’m in SC so perhaps we can make some arrangement sometime when you get your chain saw back in order …. I’ll see if I can get a pic loaded up (I’m the new guy here) so I’m challenged.

I’m not really sure how much I have total, I’m guessing around 30bdft. from what I’ve milled up already. That’s only half of one of the smaller logs I have too. What I have pictured has been air dried for about a year and a half. I’m headed to Greensboro, NC this weekend, you don’t have friends or family in that area by chance do you. It would be a lot closer than Cleveland to Columbia.

I’m about 3.5 hrs or 210 miles from Greensboro …. no family or friends up there unfortunately.

Either I ride up there or we stuff as many large flat rate boxes as you’re willing …

What do you think?

Thanks,
Tim

Anyone else have some shorts of Spalted material that you’d be willing to stuff into Flat Rate Boxes and ship to me?

PM me if you do and we can work out the details.

Thank you,
Tim

I have a lot of spalted maple from medium to heavy figure. Most of it looks like this. The boards are 15/16” thick and dry. Solid and not punky.

I can do a medium flat rate box full for $50 shipped.
