Let’s do a king/queen for a day like the TV show of yesteryear. Send us your saddest story of need, LJ’S will vote on the saddest story of need, everyone will send the winner a five dollar bill. What do you all think? It seems there may be a few people on this site who count every dollar and don’t have extras… Verification of need may be iffy.

Tex, would your kids go hungry if you bought the bit? Do you need the bit to finish a job? What’s your sad story?

I have an ex wife and need money to work on a designer drug that will cause her to not want to call or email me ever again.

I think we come from a very difficult background. Not sure I would describe it as sad though. We invested in real estate in FL and also in TX and lost everything in 2009. Was homeless with a 4 year old and 1 year old and wife in 2009 living in a motel room. Then again found ourselves homeless living in the back side of a small shop we put together in Dec 2010. That shop did not have a water heater, no bath tub or shower. We warmed our water in a small microwave and filled small plastic bins for bathing. We did not have money for food either and scrapped together whatever scraps we could find to eat. We could not have Christmas that year but we did our best so that our children did not feel they were going without. We will work for food became a reality back then, though I never stood at any street corner. The shop was very cold as there was no heat. But the 4 of us stayed close and kept as warm as we could.

Of course the positive side of that is that we opened our shop / business in 2010 and I consider what we went through to be a sacrifice my family made to enjoy the benefit we enjoy today with our thriving business. In life there are sacrifices we make, and we made our sacrifice. I would only hope that if one is ever found to be homeless that they don’t have a wife and 2 babies that also have to suffer being homeless also.

Of course my story does not apply now. We climbed out of our situation through hard work. We have a very fair amount of cash to work from now and can buy mostly anything we would ever want or need. Honestly though, sometimes we feel fairly poor since I re invest nearly our entire profits back into the business as I aim to build the business up and make it as strong as I can.

Nice story Jerry. This is exactly what I’m looking for. You and your family succeeded where many are still struggling to get by. Those are the families we want to help. I wish I could get these proud lumberjocks to open up and tell their story. We need to help.

Help me. I would like to know why this post didn’t work. Are people too proud to admit help is needed? Do people need help but don’t realize it? Is there a way to help people without advertising their name? Give me a hand.

I’ll provide my thoughts on when I first read your post…

While not your intent, it sounds like a type of scam others have used to get people’s money.

Who would be the LJ’s voting
Who is “everyone” that would sent $5

I think that it is difficult to know what DKV motives are.

I think there is also a hang over from someone who thought they are the king and rate people’s posts.

Please do not take offense DKV but you asked.

I just naturally assumed this would be an exaggerated, humorous tale of woe thread.

” I lost everything I had in the ‘29 flood

The barn was buried ‘neath a mile of mud

Now I’ve got nothing but the whistle and the steam

My baby’s leaving town on the 2:19

hey, hey …...I don’t know what to do ” .........................Tom Waits

Sounds like Bill has won.

Pride will hold most back from commenting. If we were going through hard times now, it would be hard for me to admit it, mostly pride would hold me back. But reflecting on hard time in the past as I have is not a kick in the pride, if anything I am proud to have climbed out.

I was serious about this but it didn’t work out. I think we could have somehow selected an individual and helped him/her out. Anyway, the best laid plans…
