I recently bought a 20 piece brass bushing set and clear router base for my Bosch 1617. During use the bushing nut came loose and mangled up my bit (a cheapy one, no big deal) and the bit in turn mangled up the lock nut and bushing.
I emailed Woodcraft just to let them know, as I suspected faulty thread. The second lock nut felt as though it held tighter, and I found no loosening on that one throughout a long project. Having said that, I acknowledged in the email that it could 100% be user error, though I just thought I’d let them know. You’ll never know if you’re the 20th person to have had that happened in time frame X, prompting an inquiry into the machining. I certainly hoped to have ‘something’ come of it, though I certainly didn’t expect it, and wasn’t even sure I was owed or deserving of it.
Anyway, a got a quick email back saying that it can happen due to the vibration of the tool (I don’t doubt that for a second), but they’re sending me out a new lock nut and bushing regardless.
Really impressed, and even feel a bit guilty, but I’ll certainly be sending them more of a business as a result.
