Topic tags/keywords: design table gun rack outdoor furniture help

I belong to a gun club here in Pittsburgh.

We(I) need to build 3 tables. We use these as “safe tables” they only need to be about 4ft x 4ft but we would also like to incorporate a gun rack into the design , either on one side or 2 sides.

The other design criteria are:
1) cheap to build .
2) somewhat durable, painted pine, and or woolmanizd, trying to stay clear of plywoods.
3) Did i mention CHEAP ?

I did make some nice folding gun racks which i got the idea from someone here on lumberjocks.
Mine were just painted cheap 2×4’s So thankyou to whoever posted that, sorry i can’t find it again.

So if anyone has some plans, or ideas to make these tables, please share.

Here’s a table I just finished building. Full plans are online, measurements are 4’x4’

You would probably want to modify things a bit to make it cheaper/easier. Cut down on the number of slats and potentially use pocket holes instead of mortise and tenon. And obviously use whatever lumber is cheapest in your area since you don’t mind painting it. You could probably adapt this design to use construction lumber, although most of the dimensions in the plans call for 1”x stock.

Hope this helps! It was the best non-standard picnic table I found in a day or two of scouring the internets.
