Answered a CL posting for “entire woodworking shop for sale” and found a very nice older guy who was selling all his woodworking stuff. I asked how come he was getting out of it, he said “I’m 92 years old. I retired from my job 30 years ago, and started woodworking. I figure it’s time to retire from that, too!” I was too late for the $400 DeWalt DW735 planer (ARRRG!) but I did manage to score what I think are some good deals.

Jorgensen F-clamps 3×36”, 2×24”, 2×18”? 2×48” aluminum bar clamps, 50” clamp edge guide, 48”+ T-square, another older 8’+ aluminum cutting guide, 2 slot cutter router bits (1/4” and 5/32”), a Woodcraft Rail & Stile router bit set, mini file set, a dovetail saw, and an old Stanley 190 rabbet plane. Total cost: $152

Cool. I have a dummy question. I have an Irwin clamp/spreader, I measured it the other day and it holds 22 inches. That is as far open as it goes, is it a “24 inch” or “18 inch”? I looked up the irwin site and they only list 18” or 24” clamps for this series so what do you think?

I would guess that the bar is 24” long, perhaps?

Is that what they measure? I thought it was the actual capacity. Oh well, I guess that is the price having advertising.

By the way, that sounds like a really good deal you got. If you don’t have any use for the clamps, I’ll be glad to take them off your hands….. Just kidding. I plan on getting some, that’s why I asked about the size of the Irwin clamp. It has to fit in about an 18 gal. tote for shipping. Thanks
