Topic tags/keywords: question

Does anyone else have a woodworking bucket list. I’ll share a few pieces I’d like to build and I’m curious what others hope to build some day when they can (before they can’t). When my skills have improved enough, I’d like to build a Federal Hall Table with inlay and stinging, a highboy dresser and some other pieces of period furniture. What are some of the things that you guys would like to build?

I’ve thought about the highboy dresser for a while! I have a bunch of padauk setting on the rack waiting for a project. Always wanted to build a grandfather’s clock too.

I don’t really have a bucket list yet, as I’m still too new to the game to have dream jobs… but I do have a regular list – mostly from SWMBO:
  • Steps from the patio door to the patio
  • 20’x30’x10’ pergola for the patio
  • 6’x6x’2’ pantry for the kitchen
  • Kitchen closet
  • Bedroom closet
  • Front hall closet
  • Window well cover
  • Two night tables and a dresser
Once I get those built, I get to work on my own projects, mostly shop furniture to start:
  • Sawhorses
  • Various storage systems – shelves, cabinets, wall racks
  • Router table
  • Table saw extensions
  • A new workbench
  • Old workbench upgrades
  • Torsion box assembly table

I figure that’s enough to keep me busy for a couple weeks. And by weeks I mean months. And by months I mean years.

Morris Chair,
Mandolin,
If that goes well, a craftsman style sofa to match the Morris chair and an Octave mandolin.

Yeah, I’ve always had a fascination with Grandfathers clocks …

NOPE! I make what I want, whenever I want and whenever I feel like making it.

I do that to keep away from the “other” Bucket lists. This is a Hobby that’s how I treat it. NO Pressure. Enjoy it.

A log cabin! on 1,000 acres in Wyoming with a fresh water stream running through it.

I would be happy with a fly-tying desk to start.

The only item on my bucket list is the wish that I make it 1.33 more years to retirement so that I can enjoy my shop on a daily basis, and not only on weekends after all else has been done. I get very little evening time there except when I am bumping a deadline. Too damned tired after work.

A mahogany bourbon barrel. To many nights of watching the fights while they keep showing the same Jack Daniels commercial. This is a must build.

I know JD is not Bourbon.
I know they arent built out of mahogany.
But who do you know that has a mahogany barrel? Ah! Youre right, that would be cool to have in the house as a table. And the barrel straps—brass. I know, it would be so cool.
