This is just an idea. I have no idea if others would find it useful or if it would be easy/feasible to input. I’d love it if I could tag other people’s posts with keywords.

For example, a newbie posts a great jig, but doesn’t take the time to tag it. others could tag it. or maybe the tags a person uses are only some of the appropriate tags. I think this would be great, especially if we could each put our own tags on things without making them visible to everyone. that way it wouldn’t change the tags given by the original poster, but it would build up the database.

If anyone already knows how to do this, could you let me know? again, its just an idea.

If you like it and would like to be able to keep track of it, then I would mark it as a “Favorite” by clicking the “Add to Favorites” yellow button toward the upper right corner of the screen. Does that help?

Another thing I would like to see if all would show where they are from, Example Portland Maine US, sometime someone could be your neighbour.

Thats a good idea. It would make searching lumberjocks much more powerful. Maybe some kind of wiki type tag editing. That would work great.

thats a good idea, and spaids note on a wiki might be the way to do it.

the limitation with favorites is that I have so many, that it’s hard to find a specific post even in my favorites – I think also a search for the personal favorites would be a good implementation.

I think Spaids and PurpLev are seeing what I mean. I had to go back and remove a lot of my favorites because I had almost 300. I was favoriting things that I liked, even if I never needed to revisit the page. Now I’m going through the laborious project of removing these favorites and just trying to leave the projects that I actually think I’ve got a chance of building someday. I just think anything that would allow everyone to make other peoples posts more accessible would be a good thing.

The location would be great. Many times I’ve seen people who talk about wood in their area or a tool and I’ve had to go to their home location. If they’ve added a workshop then there’s a map. If you don’t recognize the map area you’ve got to click on it and go to the map webpage and diminish it to see the larger area. Otherwise, no location available. Also, some people don’t like giving out that information. So, it could be an option just to limit it to a state if in the US or province for Canada or country if otherwise.
A location near their icon pict: Craftsman on the lake from Acton Maine would be great to see.
