Topic tags/keywords: resource burl figured wood trade barter lathe turning vets

I have never turned any burl nor the vets I teach.

I do have a lot of black walnut on our property that I can trade and I will cut it up and ship in pieces of 12×12x6.
I also have some Mulberry which is very nice yellow color heartwood but not as big as the black walnut I can send out too.

Also if you have any other woods like Cherry, Big leaf Maple, Curly woods also.

Thanks

Arlin

Sorry Arlin I have no lumber like what you are looking for, all I use is basswood that I purchase as needed.

Thank you for your response. Burl looks like warts on the side of the tree. When they are used that have some great looking figure in it. I am told burl is a tree limb that did not grow out but grew within itself kind of like an ingrown hair on our faces.

It does not come in lumber form but can grow up to 8’x8’ I am told.

Thanks again

I myself do not have any burls, but the sawmill I go to does. I know you were wanting to trade but here is his website just in case TallgrassWood.com. His name is Kevin, tell him Kelly Siebert sent you.

Hey Arlin. Those darn burls are certainly harder to come by and are more pricey than regular lumber. I’ve had luck purchasing and swapping for them on this site: www.woodbarter.com Might be worth joining. There’s a lot of good people on there. Mostly all turners too.
