O.K. I know what it is, a socket for use in a brace but the puzzle is the size.

The socket is 13/16ths but on the tang it says “CAP 9/16”

The only other marking is a triangle with a “B” in it followed by 926B.
Any thoughts ?

Ok Glen, I’ll take a guess…

CAP = Capacity
9/16 = suitable for a brace with a 9/16” chuck capacity.

Just a guess.

Interesting thought Andy, I’ve been leaning toward some sort of different sizing, y’know, Whitworth or the like ?

The biggest open end wrench in my shop came from an auction box, a “Britool”, the big end says it’s a 1 and an 8th BSW 1W, the tale of the tape is 1 and 11/16 inches, it’s “wall art”

probably for a 9/16 bolt, the head would of course be larger so the 13/16 socket

I say for spinning lug nuts off quickly after they are loosened with a breaker bar.

The lug nuts was a thought as well but that’s not the question, 9/16th on a 13/16th socket is what has me curious

Check the size on the socket CAP where it meets the tang shaft. I believe you’ll find it’s 9/16”. The size of the wrench you need to tighten the socket on the nut after you spin it down.

Looks like I have to relearn this. My Dad had a square nut one, but the two sizes stamped corresponded to the socket size and cap nut.
