There is a hotel in my town that is being torn down next week. They had a big sale and were selling all the fixtures and doors and such.
I noticed that there was a 1×6 oak chair rail around the main dining room and asked how much they wanted for it. The lady told me 50 bucks. I looked around the place some more and saw that everything was trimmed in oak including a huge 6 inch wide crown molding.
I offered her $100 for every piece of oak in the place. She took the offer.
It took 2 days to get it all out. Then another day of pulling nails, staples, and screws.
I ended up with over 3000 linear feet of oak. 1×6, 1×4, 1×2, 1×1, 4 inch crown, and tons of various trim. There was over 1000lf of just the 1×6.
Also got two urinals and two automatic hand driers. LOL
I now have what I consider to be a lifetime supply of oak!
