I don't know much about miter boxes, but I've been keeping an eye out for one. I spotted this one locally for $20, can anyone identify it, and see if anything jumps out (good, bad, missing parts, etc)? I don't mind a bit of cleanup, I've spent quite a bit of time on planes, saws, and chisels…but don't want to polish up a turd to a shiny turd.
I can't tell what brand it is. I don't think it is all that old as the legs are bent strap not cast. That style has been around I think it is relatively accurate. I probably would take an accurate square along and try it out.
I think $20 is probably a bit high.
I can't identify it, but it looks like it has a mechanism similar to the one the guys on the mitre box thread were talking about. It looks like you might be able to use a panel saw in it as well which would be handy. it has the two gauges to make repeated cuts of the same length and those are often missing. Seems worth $20. Saw does look nice.
