Topic tags/keywords: powermatic lathe tool question

I have an opportunity to purchase a Powermatic Model 45 wood lathe in “VERY NICE CONDITION, COMES WITH TOOLS, PLATES AND RESTS. MOST OF THE KNIVES ARE BUCK BROS. HAS 110V 3/4HP DAYTON MOTOR.”

Can anyone tell me if this is a worthwhile lathe. I understand it is no longer made and wonder if parts, etc. are a problem with Powermatic having changed ownership multiple times since the 45 was manufactured.

Anything anyone can tell me would be greatly appreciated.

How did this ‘turn’ out? Sorry couldn’t resist the pun :-)

Mark,

After I asked more questions about the lathe, the seller discontinued corresponding so I don’t know if he sold it, or if he couldn’t answer the questions, or if he was just looking for someone who would buy it “no-questions-asked.” I guess it just wasn’t God’s will for my life.

You are probably better off without it then. That is a great fish in your picture by the way:-)
