I recieved a flyer in the mail yesterday from Grizzly for a Spring/Summer sale showing the G0690 reduced to $1150. I checked the web site and still see it at $1395, even though the Spring/Summer sale was suppose to start yesterday. I entered the pricing code on the back of the flyer but it shows invalid. Did anybody else receive this flyer and has anybody had luck with the pricing code? For $1150 I can finally pull the trigger on this bad boy.

Whoa! I’d like to see the flyer you got! The online sale flyer shows the sale price as $1395.

If you could post a picture of that ad I would love to see it. This would be a deal I couldn’t pass up.

Can I also ask: What, if any, is the difference between the G0690 and G1023RL?

I received the same flyer with the same price. I went to their website and entered the price code from the back of the flyer and got a message that the code was invalid also (I didn’t want to take it too far, ‘cause I am not in the market for one of these and I don’t want you to read about my unfortunate wife/tablesaw-related demise in the evening paper). I tried this twice, just to check. The first time, there was a splash on the page that said, “order today for a $100 discount.” That didn’t calculate either, and the second time I went through the process the discount splash was gone.

Something is not right here, for sure. Maybe it is just a simple mistake or coding error. Let’s give them the benefit of the doubt on it. However, here in Washington State, offered discounts must be honored, regardless (and their printed pricing policy of “catalog pricing may be increased at any time without prior notice” isn’t worth the paper it is printed on with our state’s AG office—and Grizzly has one of their locations here in Bellingham, WA.

I’d call their 800 number and attempt the order with a live person. If they say the price went up, I’d say something about false advertising and contacting the Washington State Attorney General’s office online. I bet you get the discount.

I’ll admit, this feels a little ‘whiny,’ MAYBE. But fair is fair, and a fella should get the TS he wants at the advertised price, am I right?

I have that ad, and the price you quote for the G0690. It did the same thing to me, shows the pricing code as invalid. Maybe a call to Grizzly? Great price…...

This happened to me when I was returning my G0715P. The website had the G0691 listed at $1250, but when I tried ordering it, they said that the price was a mistake a wouldn’t honor it. Part of the reasons I didn’t get a Grizzly saw.

Is the 691 on this ad too? or just the 690?

blkcheech, that is not right. The whole thing isn’t passing the smell test. Washington State’s AG office has a stringent ‘bait and switch’ advertising law, designed particularly to prevent ‘accidental’ pricing errors and substituting a higher price/product. Grizzly has locations in Missouri and Pennsylvania as well, LJ’s in those states should check in with their AG’s online office as well. Most states have consumer protection laws to prevent this type of advertising.

Interestingly, the $100 discount if ordered today splash is back on the product page, though I did not this time begin the checkout process to see if they are honoring it…Grizzly is losing me.

I dunno, why get so upset over what is clearly an obvious pricing error? None of the other machines have such a big discount. They get no benefit from a “bait and switch” tactic. No one is going to hurry down to their stores because of it and there doesn’t seem to be a way to order the machine at that price. Why would they do it deliberately? I believe the AG is looking for a pattern of deception before they go after a merchant (think permanent going out of business sales and such). Also, Griz’s pricing policy in the flyer says that they can increase prices at any time without prior warning.

I sold my small business a year ago, but about 15 years ago we ran a direct mail ‘summer’ special. My staff decided to ‘save time’ by mailing the flyer to every one of my customers, including those who had purchased similar products in the past (and a lot of those had purchased on similar promotions). A significant number of those customers went to claim the discount retroactively, and they were told it was for NEW purchases only, and that they had received the mailpiece in error. One of those complained to the Washington State AG, who ordered my business to give the discount to EVERY customer, including those who had already purchased, even those who had received similar discounts on those purchases, even those who hadn’t asked for it. My business had to essentially rebate the discount to all of those customers on AG orders, and it cost my very small business over thirty thousand dollars. So, even though I don’t have a dog in this fight, and am not in the market for a new table saw, there is a principle in play here for me. Fair is fair. AND, that doesn’t explain their ‘order today for an additional $100 discount’ splash which doesn’t calculate in the cart either. If three people here have noted this, then you can bet that there are a number of others who have decided that the “actual” sale price is still pretty good and made the purchase. THAT is the definition of bait and switch, whether ‘accidental’ or not. Plus, arbitrary pricing policies are flat out illegal anyway. Just because the commodities market for Chinese steel changes, it doesn’t mean the price for finished goods made of Chinese steel have changed also.

I received the same flyer last week and the price in my flyer matches yours. I was not interested in the saw so I did not try to order.

@shaneA: flyer lists G0691 $1595 on sale for $1495

I called Grizzly and they said it was an error and would not honor it. I guess I should have tried before placing my other saw on CL. The lady,at Grizzly was quite rude and impatient. Stated that they have the right to change prices at any time no matter what the flyer says. Called it the “oops” policy. I’m done with Grizzly, second time I,have had issues with them.

Have your say...
