Wow, I used to do tree work up there. Putting antanea’s(sp) on the top of redwood trees…triming/felling madrones and oaks….beautiful area. Sad when the giants fall. You should be able to get some nice burl off the root ball? or just leave the root ball and more trees will grow. The lumber from them should be real nice as being that old they should have some nice core/heart wood. They aren’t much good for furniture or turning as that wood is very soft. Great for fencing and outdoor funiture though. I have a friend that makes burl tables and other trinkets and takes em to AZ to sell. I don’t have any way of processing that raw a wood or I would be interested. I know Big Tree Lumber in Davenport used to buy downed trees…you might try them.
