I’m going to try makings some indoor furniture items from bent/shaped bamboo rods – not bamboo ply, not bamboo lumber, not bamboo flooring. Does anyone have any recommendations for a finish? I don’t have a spray booth.

I can only speak to finishing bamboo fly rods where traditionally, bamboo rod blanks are wrapped and then the entire rod is dipped in a thinned, warmed varnish, several coats. This penetrates the bamboo and protects them from moisture degradation.

That being said, bamboo, if used for seating would have to have a more flexible finish like Tung oil or Teak oil. Other than that, for stationary pieces, don’t see why you couldn’t use anything you wished.
