Apparently I have now heard 1 too many horror stories of experienced woodworkers losing fingers. I am not an experienced woodworker, and value my fingers greater than $3000. Therefore, SawStop time.

If I am going to do it, I am going to do it once. I am thinking the PCS 3HP, with 52” fence. I also want the mobility base.

Without the base, it appears to be $3000 + $250 shipping everywhere. However, it looks like the free base ships separately.

How long does it take to receive the base?

Are there any other deals around?

No, there aren’t any other deals unless you opt for the overarm dust collection, but I bought from Amazon using my Amazon Visa and got 3% cashback which wasn’t much…I think in the end I saved maybe $30 or $60 over buying it locally and picking it up myself. One of my friends bought one several years ago from a local tool vendor and they delivered the saw to him already-assembled.

It took a little over a week for my mobile base to be delivered after I mailed in my form. You can set up the saw and install the mobile base afterward by tipping the saw onto its rails, but I just waited for the saw to arrive since I also had to have a subpanel and 220V circuit installed in the garage.

I bought one back before Christmas and had some free extras (saw blades and a cartridge). It got to me before the saw did, by about 10 days. I sent the rebate form in electronically, and had the rebate stuff within 3 days.

Great, thank you for the info. I can wait 1 week. I was worried it might be months.

Bought mine last year at this time same saw you’re looking at. It is a great piece of equipment, you won’t regret it. Received mobile base in about a week.

Thank you everybody for their input. It sounds like I shouldn’t be concerned about the delivery time.

I called a Woodcraft about an hour away, and they expect to have two of these in by this weekend. Therefore, I just need to convince the wife and locate a truck.

When I asked my wife and explained it to her, she asked how soon could I get it. Beyond the safety feature, it is a well design and built saw.

She has told me before just to get it. However, I have been feeling guilty about spending this kind of money on a tool. However, it is much more than that. I think she will be supportive.

For what it is worth, this is the post that put me over the edge: https://i.imgur.com/pENDYmj.jpg

I purchased my SawStop at Woodcraft, along with eligibility for the free mobile based. They charged me for the mobile base and packaged it with the saw. As agreed to with them, they refunded the purchase price of the base as soon as a brought to them the unit that SawStop sent to me. In short, no need to wait for the mobile base. I assume that most retailers would be happy to work out such a deal with their customers.
