A friend of mine has a gun business and does shows on weekends. He is wanting some 4foot long 36” tall, 24” deep carts.

He needs them to be able to latch together to remain sturdy together as he will then place a drop cloth over the top to display his product. So the latch system cant protrude onto the top.

Also he needs a locking system for a cash drawer and for the rest of the cabinet. Needs to be very solid so it wont be broken into overnight, but still not too cumbersome to open when needed to get more inventory througout the day.

Im stuck on a locking and latching system… any ideas?

This isn’t an elegant solution, but could be good enough…?

How about building into the case work something like what is used in KD furniture to lock the two carts togeather once at the show. For the drawers and doors, design the case work to incorporate Key Locks like THESE.

I understand what he wants but you might consider building in a metal lock box. A wood box would be very tempting target.
