I have some 7/8” Maple I need to get down to 1/2”, but don’t want to plane away all that wood. In theory you should be able to resaw it and get a 1/2” slab and a 1/4” slab with a good bandsaw resaw blade. I, however, do not have an appropriately sized bandsaw or blade to do the job. I was wondering if there was anyone near southern Ohio that offered a resawing service? It would be worth it to me to pay a few bucks to keep from turning a bunch of good wood into wood chips.

Greg, Maybe a trim shop or a saw mill could help you out. I had the same issue a while back. I found a place that makes molding and they re-sawed a piece of walnut for me for about 10.00 bucks. Good luck.

A fellow lumberjock in Vandalia has offered the services of his 14” bandsaw, so hopefully we’ll get this to work!
