Hi there,

What triggered me to post this topic (after having experienced and comparing with other forums) is that the administrator(s) here is liberal and are very welcoming to its members.

Recently having joined a forum ” Wood Barter ”, upon my introductory posting of having a link to my blog (which was deleted ) and banned from the forum.

The thing is that the forum is full of rules and the administrator is very uptight about it. Sort of like yes means yes and no means no or be banned. Sheesh, you can count me out on that one. What’s the point of restricting links to websites on your postings and comments if your forum has the ability to add link to it.

People throng to forums to have some information or even to have a good time to chat.

I then proceed to google up “wood barter” and found out that I wasn’t the only one being pissed with their policy and rules. Check out the attached website below.

Anyways, I LOVE YOU LUMBERJOCKS

cheers,
Sam :)))

With all due Respect pjones46. Those rules are from 2010 and in fact Announced that the “Coffee Lounge Forum” had been Closed.

The latest “Rules” Posted by the New Owners, I believe, may be found here: http://lumberjocks.com/rules

Thank You: Rick

With all due respect to you, it was announcing the closing of the coffee lounge due to some problems with the lounge at the time and insults, however, the overall sites rules were changed and until such time as Martin Sojka or someone who runs the board tells me I will continue to follow them

Thanks for giving your 2 cents worth gents (pjones46 and Rick).

Anyways, moving forward, as of today (April 01, 2015) is all good and postings/comments not related woodworking are still posted/exist under coffee lounge directly or indirectly. i.e: this posting of mine that you’re reading now.

You still can post in Coffee Lounge but the title bar is different which says “Off-topic Content” which is reasonable and not harsh giving that the sole purpose of this website is woodworking. To me, the administrator here are being generous a whole lots. Thank you guys.

At the very least, I’m still here commenting/posting and not banned.

Cheers people,

Sam :))

That’s certainly your choice. Martin Sojka no longer has anything to do with this Site. He sold it a year or so ago.

Martin hasn’t owned the site in quite some time now.

LumberJocks was sold to Escalate Media in 2011. (I worked for Escalate Media at that time.)

In December of 2014 it became part of Vertical Scope and since they don’t have a habit of selling their sites, y’all are pretty much stuck with me. (I work for Vertical Scope now.)

Our rules are pretty relaxed concerning posting.

Then perhaps PJ learned something today!

And I heartily agree with the OP.

Thanks Cricket. That far back? WOW! Time flies when you’re having fun! ...LOL..

I hadn’t seen the one on “Fine Line of Inflammatory Topics” before.

You might even be more right about “Homeland Security” (And FEMA) than you and all others on here realise. There ain’t no Privacy Know How!

In fact there is a Disgusting amount of “Snooping” going on by various “Agencies” and the “Well Known Sites That Help Feed Them!” and not just your Computer but ANY kind of an electronic device you might be using.

NO! It’s not an April Fools Joke! It’s all to REAL!

Cricket and all,

I have read the Terms of Service and Notices of Verticalscope on Lumberjocks which somewhat differs from “Our rules are pretty relaxed concerning posting” view. I in no way am trying to extend this conversation if they are content with your interpretation and changes as you have listed on “www.LUMBERJOCKS.COM” (the ‘Web Site’) so be it.

Have a nice day and thank you.

Paul
