I have a cheap 9 inch band saw for model use only. The blade length is 59 1/4 inch.
Some of the blades come in either 59 or 59 1/2 inch. Since its only 1/4 inch difference I am wondering whether to err on the short or long side . Tks

Why dont you get it right at 59 1/4”? You can get custom lengths at various suppliers including Suffolk for timberwolf and spectrum supply for Lenox. If I were to err I’d go shorter than longer to make sure you can tension even your widest blade. But I don’t think it will make a difference as most bandsaws can work with a +- 1/4” variation.

I too have a cheap 9” bandsaw and the travel of the upper wheel would allow me quite a variance. The main thing to remember is if erring on the long side you want to make sure you can achieve the desired level of tension in the blade before the upper wheel is at the limit of travel (and will be able to after the blade stretches ever so slightly).
