Being from Kansas and knowing Lindsborg, I know Sandzen’s work quite well. His oil painting prices have soared recently. Here at The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City we have one of his works which was actually commissioned by a patron for us, so he knew he was doing a work for “The big Museum.” That work was recently part of our reinstall of the American galleries and the painting was cleaned. He was from Sweden and much impressed by his time in the Southwest after which his painting displayed the kind of phosphorescent colors one sees in the high desert. Wish I could figure out how to add an image to this reply. I could show the painting and a detail of a portion cleaned and uncleaned. If you ever come to KC, do check out the Museum. We have a number of wonderful furniture pieces as well as a room of Chinese furniture.
