Topic tags/keywords: red oak ideas advice

Hi guys!
I’ve just come into a sizeable stash of 1/2” red oak, mostly 4” by 3’, and now I’m wondering what would be the best use for it? Save it for drawer sides? Make a bunch of picture frames? I mostly build furniture, but I thought about doing a box or two. What would you do with it?

I was given a bunch of short pieces of quarter swan oak and this is what I did with mine. Made a bunch of these.

Jim’s star is beautiful but this may interest you also just add some contrasting wood to the oak .
I will post a blog soon on how I cut the pattern.

I’ve got some 1/2” QSWO that I’m saving for making some Stickley wastebaskets.

Well, since everyone else is posting pics, this is what I’m building. The plans are for a Limbert #255 by Christopher Schwarz.

I might change the handles a bit and I haven’t decided on flat or pyramidal corners, but you get the idea…
