Topic tags/keywords: wall hanging cabinet cabinet organization

Hi all,

Within the next few months (well, hopefully by the end of the year at least) I plan on embarking on a wall-hanging cabinet build, probably something similar in principle to this one on the Wood Whisperer Guild.

The dimensions will likely be something similar to what you see in the link above. To give some background, I plan to put it in our living space, but also in a location convenient to access when coming in from e.g. work. Thus, I will probably make some provisions to hang/store keys and some sort of mail inbox. Other ideas we’ve had are battery/charger storage and maybe a spot to keep a camera, or other electronics. I may even consider building in a charging station for such things.

With that aside, I thought it would be fun/interesting to see what my fellow LJs would consider using such a wall-hanging cabinet for. I know we all have very different organizational paradigms, but that’s what makes these discussions interesting (plus I’ll likely get some great ideas to boot)!

Heavy on the stuff!

I would think you would want it laid out to best present/store your most used tools in the most accessible places, with some amount of interior space flexibility built in too.

What do you like? Bar glassware. CDs or DVDs. Spices. Hats and gloves. Cleaning supplies. Where do you plan on putting it? That would seem to define what goes in it to me.

We live in a townhouse where the main floor is an open concept living room/kitchen/dining room (in that order). We will likely put it more towards the living room, maybe near where the entrance to our house is, hence the idea of putting things like keys in it.

I will probably one day build cabinets for spices and CDs/DVDs (separately of course!).
