Hello, I was referred here by a member of a Facebook Group, which I follow. He said there were some very knowledgeable persons on here, regarding tools. I have a wood shaper with the brand name tag of Chang Iron. It is a CMP-2. My research leads me to believe many shapers were branded under different names, which were made by the same manufacturer. I think mine was made in 1987. Any help would be appreciated. -- cey146 |

Wondering if you found your spindles you were looking for?? Your chang machine looks similar to the Woodtek #805986 2HP Shaper. I just picked one of these up with a Woodtek Power Feeder attached. It came with the 1/2” router bit thing already installed in it. It did not come with any spindles or spacers. I am looking for both spindles too. The 1/2” & 3/4” Spindles. I haven’t checked with Woodtek yet, but will try calling them soon. Here is my shaper. |

Wow, machine looks nearly identical. Woodtek is one of the ones on my long list of very similar shapers. Stay in touch, and if you find the spindles I’d like to know more about where you found them and the price. CEY -- cey146 |

Looking through boxes & boxes and drawers & drawers of misc. odds ends & pieces of WW machinery related stuff, we found what could only be the missing spindles. The draw rod that goes in from underneath was found just now. Looking at how the spindles would mount and reading the skimpy manual, I think it is all there. Oh, The feeder was $200. Everything is in nice shape and works well. I’m surprised at how smooth & quiet the shaper runs. |

I have been into shapers for a short while, but only with the usual suspects US made. and an odd one made in Japan. |

I sent an email to the Woodtek Technical Dept. at Woodworker’s Supply, Inc. and they wrote me back. Here is what they sent me. 1/2” spindle set is $69.85. The 3/4” spindle set is $82.95. The 1” spindle set is $95.50. The special arbor nut to mount the spindles into the arbor is $14.95. You can call and order. The number is 1-800-648-3953 x-3038. This is Eric Fairfield’s number. Talk with Eric, he is a super nice guy and he will hook you up with what you need. |

Fifty…...I’ve been working on another project, and haven’t looked into the spindle situation, yet. -- cey146 |
