Topic tags/keywords: newbie new beginner hello fallbrook_ca

Hello Everyone,

Just thought I would introduce myself.

I’ve considered taking up woodworking for a few years now, but just recently got serious about it. While I do have a few tools, I’ve decided to kick start my new hobby by taking a woodworking class. Our local community college (Palomar College, San Marcos, CA) has a very highly rated program, and offers an intro class. Tomorrow is my first day of class, so I plan to start up a blog for anyone that is interested in following my progress.

This looks like a great community, and I can’t wait to become more involved. I live in Fallbrook, CA (San Diego County), so if there are any other jocks in the area, please take a second and say hello.

Wayne

Hey Wayne!

Welcome to Lumberjocks, and the hobby. You will find that there will be a great number of people on this site that are interested in your progress. I feel that a blog that involved the progress of a woodworker from “I want to woodwork…” through progress and projects, would very interesting.

Happy to have you here!

Tom

I agree with the previous comments. It would be nice to see woodworking through a beginners eyes again.

My beginning was a long time ago. So it would be nice to see what I missed.

So much to learn, so little time. You have a great resource at your fingertips. I’m a relative newbie myself and have learned something new almost every day I’ve been on LJ. My skills have increased significantly since joining just 5 months ago. It also has a lot to do with the great encouragement you’ll find here.
Best of luck in your class. Keep us informed….and as Oscorner will say….show us your stuff…ie: take pictures.

Are you trying to say we don’t have any class around here Rob? – Of course we don’t, it’s still summer vacation!
