Somebody in my area has posted a 3-year old JPS-10TS for sale at $800. On a scale of 1 (rip-off) – 10 (deal of the century), where do you guys feel this comes in? I’m awaiting a response from the seller to see if any accessories are included.

Also, how would this compare to Delta’s 36-725 or the R4512/Craftsman 21833 (or even Craftsman’s 22116?) Currently, my main saw is an old Craftsman RAS, but I’m prepared to ship it to Emerson for their $100 recall if I can come across a nice TS at a reasonable price.

I bought one that was 5 or 6 years old almost a year ago for $700 that had the built in router table. No splitter or riving knife. So I would rate this as a 4 or 5 on your scale. Mine came with about 4 inserts and a big outfeed table the owner had built.

It depends. The general rule of thumb is 50% of new, depending on condition, age, original quality, included equipment, extras, etc. Jet updated this line with a riving knife in the past couple of years. If there’s a riving knife and cast iron wings, $800 seems a little steep considering there’s no warranty. If there’s no riving knife and steel wings, $800 is very steep IMO. For an older model with a traditional splitter, I’d think $$550-$600 or so depending on condition and extras…cast iron wings are worth more than steel. If it is the latest version with a true riving knife, I might go $700ish depending on the wings and extras.

At this point, I’d be inclined to steer clear of the R4512 and 21833, and even the Griz G0715P due to alignment issues. How much can you get a 22116 for? I like the Delta at that price point…has steel wings, but those could be upgraded. I might look at the G0771….cast wings, full enclosure, cabinet mounted trunnions, aluminum fence….$774 shipped, w/warranty and riving knife.
