Topic tags/keywords: question tip ideas scraps

I need some ideas for projects to make. I have lots of small pieces of wood laying around I just hate to thow out. Some are small cut offs 3/4X2X 12 or so. Then I have lots of thin pieces that have cool graining or figuing but after I plane them out the may be only 3/8 or 1/4 thick. These are about 12X3”. I have a couple places I might be able sell small decorative items but so far I have no inspiration.
Thanks Skidiot

Just go through the LJ project archives, there’s nothing but inspiration.

If you have enough, glue them up into a block and make a bandsaw box out of them. They are pretty simple to make and are good for holding all kinds of little things.. which the females love!

Let me know when you figure it out. We make tons of little pieces that I know would be good for something….we just can store it all. (usually it ends up fueling our wood stoves in the winter.)

I don’t know if you can turn those into anything commercially viable, but the sizes you describe are perfect for smaller boxes. I’ve been concentrating lately on using up a lot of nice, but small scraps. At first glance, a 6” x 6” x 3/4” cutoff seems too small to be of use for anything. But rip it into three strips and resaw those right down th middle, and now you have all the makings of a box.
