Hello,

I have tried to resaw some walnut floring—- so I could plane it to 1/4 inch thick. I am not at all consitant and that did not work well. I want to know if there is somewhere to get it in NW Florida or have it sent to me.

I am planning to build a wooden bicycle frame —- and for the job I need about 100 feet of 3 1/4 (or wider) , 1/4 thick walnut or Maple or some mix of the two.

If you have the capibility to make it—or know someone that does—please have them call me at 850 240 0941.

Thanks, Bill

Thanks WDHLT15 for your input—it was good to talk with you and get your ideas. As you suggested—I need to find someone that can do this on a bandsaw—rather than a sawmill like you have.
SO—- if anyone has the capibility to resaw walnut or maple to 1/4 slices—- give me a call. Thanks, Bill

Not knowing what lengths you need this might not work for you, but check out these folks: http://ocoochhardwoods.com/

I’ve always gotten good service from them.

Have you considered doing this with a table saw? A 10” table saw can resaw boards up to around 4” wide if you’re careful.

I deal with a gent who sells thin stock as well as saws lumber in the 4/4 and up range. I guess he would ship it to you. When I get home I will find his number and post it.

You can just buy walnut that thick at Rockler, and I expect probably at Woodcraft. I know that I have.
