Topic tags/keywords: shop cabinets question

I am working on finishing my first shop. Wife just gave permission. I have a 24×24 garage that I plan on completely finishing, epoxy floor, drywall, track lighting, etc. I have some older kitchen cabinets that plan on hanging for storage. I am thinking about painting them with some type of rustoleum product. Not interested in refinishing them as they are just for the shop and I think I may just spray them with my hvlp. I believe they are currently finished with a lacquer. Would I be able to spray them with a shellac based BIN primer and then follow that with the paint that I plan on using? I would prefer to avoid having to sand them down if possible.

any suggestions for a color scheme would be great too.

Wash all the cabinets with a de-glossing liquid product, Wilbond is one, to remove any dirt, wax, oils, etc, which will give something for your top coats to bite into. The best would be to lightly sand.
