I made an early post about the stools and cutting boards that were posted. I did not get many responses so I will try again.

I emailed Mr Herrera at Wahoo High school in Wahoo , Nebraska. He teaches a woodworking class and has his students post their projects.. there are not very many comments and views on them. In this day and age where there seem to be fewer young people getting into woodworking, it is great to see so many young people being exposed and making sawdust.

I want to thank Mr. Herrera for teaching and having the students post the projects. The next project is a mantle clock and I will be anxious to see the results.

If you get a chance, take a look at the projects and make a comment….I am certain it would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Redoak,

It would help if you used a more descriptive title, and provided a link to the web page. I spent a few minutes looking through your forum posts, but didn’t see anything obvious.

Further to your earlier, or later Post I made a reasonably long comment. One of my comments was ….

“I THINK Mr. Herrera is a member here.”

I did a search and found nothing. I know he is/was a member because he sent me a reply regarding a statement I made to one of his pupils about his Project.

Did he reply to your e-mail? (You mentioned Mantle Clock as the next Project) Did he say he was a member or not?

BOB: This goes with my Post above. This LINK should take you to the page I’m referring to. The Top Nine Projects are from Wahoo High School.

This is getting a little confusing though. (As Above by the Author) “If you get a chance, take a look at the projects and make a comment….I am certain it would be appreciated.”

I would agree wit that. You are encouraging the Members to make Comments. Yet on those Nine Projects there. were no Comments from you. Is that not a little peculiar?

Is it a little peculiar….maybe to you.

What you did not see is the emails between the shop teacher, Mr. Herrera, and myself which very much passed along my compliments to him and his students.

I am a little discouraged as I was trying to generate some interest in this high school program by LJ members. Instead, two of the three comments are about something wrong that I did or did not do in my posts.

The focus should be on young woodworkers and a fine teacher.

“The focus should be on young woodworkers and a fine teacher.”

AGREED!

Did you find out if Mr. Herrera is STILL a member on here? I know he was at one time, as he contacted me by PM a Long Time Ago to explain why most of the Pictures were not good. His answer was that they do not have access to a Computer.

That’s a shame, although most of the picture are a lot better now.

The “LINK” takes me to Woodworking Projects Gallery and each project there, as far as I can see, are not made by high school students. For myself I am most interested in seeing what students do in shop class and would love to encourage them in their work. But if the post(s) are not marked as such as would catch my eye (high school or something of the sort) I don’t notice them.

After actually doing a search on here for “Wahoo High school” I found some projects.

It is great to see new woodworkers getting the bug, young or old. If you were to publicly comment on projects then at least others would see your comment and would be more likely to comment also. Just an observation on how these forums work.

Well done for promoting and acknowledging young people and tutors,

Garry

I think that you are correct about finding them. I emailed the shop teacher and asked him to have the students add information in their profile and in the description.

Thanks

Simple reason the LINK doesn’t go there anymore. The LINK is to a Specific Page in Projects. They are no longer on that Page. They’ve “Moved On.”

Hey! They don’t call me Shylock (OOPS) Sherlock for no good reason.

I’m pleased to second Garry’s Statement ”Well done for promoting and acknowledging young people and tutors,”
