I ‘ve been watching craigslist like a hawk for free materials for a long time. Lately I have been lead to believe I was going to get a couple black walnuts, but that deal ended up falling through. Well my luck changed today! I just got back from picking up a load of maple after answering an ad for free wood in the next town over from me. My new best friend (not actually) cuts down a few trees a week as a side job and he said that he’ll let me know everytime he is about to cut one down to see if I want it, and what length I want it cut. I’ll be set on domestic hardwood soon enough, and I will definitely not be paying for firewood this winter. Once I get enough logs to take to the mill, I’ll be sure to take pics along the way and post a blog on it.
