Topic tags/keywords: group purchase tool

Over on the R/C forum I frequent I routinely see GROUP purchases advertised. I don’t think I have ever seen one here. I could be and probably am wrong about that. I’d love to see something like that here. Maybe when the sponsor section goes live they will offer it or we as a group could convince them to offer it! I could really use a top end router lift and 3 and 1/4 hp router combo!! (at a decent discount of course)

ok.. judging by the lack of responses over the past 48 hours, I’ll bet its fairly safe to say that there has not been much group purchase activity on this site. Has anyone ever set up a group purchase before? I mean it should be pretty easy to do right? Contact a supplier willing to participate, negotiate the best deal you can and then stick it on the forums and see who’s interested. I’m just not sure about the liability issues that one may encounter when setting up the deal. (say a deal goes south) any thoughts, opinions, advice? (obviously all financials are handled between the individual purchasers and the company, no middle men.

I haven’t seen any threads about group purchases here. The only experience I have with the concept is in cases where there is some sort of custom manufacturing of the desired product and the group shares the set up costs. In my case that would be a small run of custom printed circuit boards for music electronics.

It has been proven just recently if you blow snot bubbles and go on a rant and threaten to quit the forum you get more response.

As for the group purchases, life happens, the other half finds out, bills instead of toys for hobbyists, it’s a crap shoot. First time it goes south, lots of discontent. If all goes well then you have hero’s…...tough call….

Have your say...
