I needed a stick of cherry to fix a mistake for my Cherry Quarter Round Display Shelf project. So I went down to the local wood store at lunch time. While looking for my cherry board my eyes fell upon a couple of pieces of 8/4 wood that was about 8 ft long and about 10” wide. They both had some saw blade kerfs about 2” to 3” at various points, 4 or 5 total on each board in from the edge. This was a darn shame as the boards were beautiful but for the ugly slashes….so I asked the guy what type of wood it was and he came back as Spanish Cedar and so then asked how much? He called to the back and came back with $20 a board. I said sold! Well at least one of them (LOML is not gonna be happy). My mind first thought perfect for cutting boards then went to humidors. The kerfs make it possible to build boxes out of them easily. Will post some picks when I get home.
