Hi all. I have a question…

I recently got one those new power bank/car jumper, Highly recommended btw (car battery died during the recent snow storms and I jumped my car 7 times on 1 charge, still showed 80% charge. It allowed me to wait until the weekend to get a new battery on my normal errand run), anyways… I got a charging cord for my tablet. The tablet charger’s output is 2.58 amps and the output on the power bank is 2.1 amps.

The question is is a difference in amps going to harm the battery or is it just going to charge slower?

Yes it will just charge slower. The table may try to draw more , but most power supplies these days use a clamping circuit that will reduce the voltage to keep the current with in it’s max range.

I am assuming that you are going to plug the tablet into a USB port on the power bank.

Hi English thanks for the reply.

No USB, I don’t know what the plug is called… here’s a link

Output is a DC plug 5.5×2.1mm

Some will charge slower and the phone may actually tell you, but some like my new Samsung won’t charge at all if there isn’t enough power.

2 Updates.

I read the amps incorrectly… DUH!

1. USB output is 2.1 amps. Since I’m using a DC plug the output is 2.5 amps.
2. I charged the tablet but something went wrong. Full charge on the battery bank and the tablet at about 20%. After an hour or 2 The battery bank was completely dead and the tablet was at about 75-80%. USB port was also non-functioning. I restarted the tablet and it went through a Windows update. USB ports work again.

Either there’s an issue charging the tablet with the battery bank or the windows update screwed something up. I am going to try and charge it again so I’ll post what happens.
