Topic tags/keywords: dovetail jig question

Has anyone ever used the dovetail jig made by General? Home depot sells it for $40 but im only 15 and dont have alot of extra money to spend if its junk.

The inexpensive Jigs are tougher to set up and use than say the Porter cable that sells for around $120 or a different style like the MLS dove tail jig. So if your budget will allow spend a little more for less headaches and better results.

I don’t want to bad mouth any manufacturer.

I bought the General Pro Doweling Jig setup. It didn’t work well at all. Didn’t clamp tight, wasn’t stable and just generally unsatisfactory. If that jig is any indication of their other product, don’t waste your money.

thanks guys, has anybody ever used a porter cable because i found a used one that i think i can afford
