We are leaving the snowbanks of Western Canada and heading to Florida for a break!!

I noticed there was a Woodworking show and vendor event at the Tampa Fairgrounds, so am going to spend some time checking it out over the weekend – anybody else interested in meeting up there?

Woodworking Show site

We set up a similar meeting and toured the Gamble House in California a few years ago, met some great LumberJocks and shared a good meal together.

Or is it not worth going to? Anybody been there before?

I was surprised by the lack of response and enthusiasm for the show, then I checked the archives and noticed a post that stated the quality of the shows, vendors, etc was declining.

And I thought it was me…

I am still going, would be great to meet some Lumberjocks from Florida, send me a message if you don’t want anyone else to know you are going. :)

I was hoping to find that someone created a thread for this. Thanks Randy. I’m also curious if anyone else was going? I’ve never been to a woodworking show and was wondering how these were? Is the Woodworking show worth going? i like some of the vendors I saw in the list, but that doesn’t really mean anything if it’s not a good show.

I’ll be there tomorrow. I never miss it. Sure it’s mostly the same stuff year in and out, but I never fail to learn something new or be reminded of something I saw before and forgot about. It’s also a place where I pickup some of the supplies I know I am going to need each year.

I look forward to it every time!

Thanks for the feedback. I just went to Woodcraft today and they said the event has been going downhill for a little while now, but as a newcomer, it’ll probably be far more than the kind of event Woodcraft usually holds. It’s not a bad drive there, so we’ll see how I feel in the morning. :)

This is not a bad show at all! Lots of stuff here with great instructional seminars.

Wish I would have heard from some of you before I left for Florida, I visited all three days, took in some seminars, bought some supplies and hauled back about 60 pounds worth of turning blanks (material we can’t find here).

Thought it was well worth the entry fee, and would go again.

Met a number of interesting people at the show, would have been nice to meet up with a Lumberjock or two…

It may be going downhill, but as was mentioned there are still lots of things to learn and new products to see.
