Topic tags/keywords: drill bushing dowels question

I have a project that is going to require many dowels because I do not want to see screws or plugs. I just learned about drill bushings and believe making a jig with these would give me the most accuracy. I’m finding various types and prices on-line and would appreciate insight from the LumberJocks experts. What type works best for woodworking jigs. What are your favorite sources for purchasing drill bushings? What’s your experience with drill bushing?

Thank you!!

Used them quite often on jigs and fixtures in my furniture factory. Excellent for repetive tasks. I suggest that you look in the phone book for industrial bearing companies. Also, possibly National cabinet hardware suppliers (Rocklers).
Best price is usually available if you state that your are “such and such Cabinet company” and need the wholesale price on what ever you want. Then buy via credit card. This woks with industrial companies, not mail order companies.
I figure I am just as good as any big cabinet company, and I deserve the best price too.

That’s a good point on price. Don’t be surprised if teh price drops 25 to 50%:-))
